Chalmers Alford (1955-2008) was a Philadelphia born jazz guitarist who worked with Al Green (pictured). He had a memorable career as a gospel quartet guitar player in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with groups such as the Mighty Clouds of Joy. He would eventually find a new career path in the neo-soul movement, providing music for such acts as D’Angelo and Raphael Saadiq.
