After a long year busking in the sun-drenched, sin-ridden streets of Miami, Robby Hunter found himself being gently pushed farther down his path towards musical greatness. Moving bodies on the sidewalk with his one-man-band setup, Robby had been serenading the co-ed set for months until the local authorities threatened to incarcerate him if he did not “leave or play in a real bar.”
Never one to ignore good advice, Robby began gigging in the local bar scene with a rotating cast of musicians, cutting his teeth in noisy dives packed with young, sweaty crowds. After a few years without a consistent band, Robby finally found the rhythm section that had the chemistry to take his live performances to the next level. The final make up of the Robby Hunter Band now consists of Robby (guitar and vocals), Pat Howard (drums) and John Coughlin (bass).
Following a string of single releases and shows in Austin during South By Southwest, Robby and the boys have just released their refreshingly unique debut album Magic City Hippies to warm reception in cities in every continent except Antarctica.
As the excitement for their music continues to rise, the Robby Hunter Band will be performing live in cities all over America in late 2013 and into 2014, bringing their self-described “Indie Funk” to a venue near you.
