Simon Novsky is a Grammy-Winning Arranger, Producer, Composer, and Singer based in Germany.
Inspired by Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, Bill Evans, Igor Stravinsky, and Dmitri Shostakovitch, Simon skillfully combines elements of African-American music with the great orchestral traditions of classic Hollywood films. If you ask Simon about his genre, he strongly refuses to be boxed into a certain category. Musically, he prefers to be free and open to innovative sounds that can come from anywhere.
This approach has served him well as he is known as a go-to for virtuoso artists such as Kirk Franklin, Bobby Sparks (Snarky Puppy), Philip Lassiter, Bobby Lyle, and B-Slade. He also works as a partner for Yvonne Catterfield, Herbert Grönemeyer, Fanta 4, advises on “The Voice of Germany” and supports many successful Russian and international artists. This includes arranging for German Trumpeter Till Brönner and Singer Johannes Oerding.
His love for music came organically through his father, a professional jazz musician, and growing up in a musical family in Moscow.
Simon is particularly drawn to strings and how he helps the listener feel as if they were standing in the middle of the orchestra. As a consummate craftsman, he believes that getting small details right is just as exciting as arranging large pieces for the German Bundeswehr Big Band. He knows how to create just the right sound for each project whether it’s Pop, a Film Score, TV commercials, or Gospel as evidenced by a 2017 Grammy win for his arrangements on Kirk Franklin’s album Losing My Religion.
