Greg Tate, a pioneer in music journalism, musician and producer, died last Tuesday, December 7th 2021. Jessica Care Moore remembers her time in his life with utmost love and respect, highlighting her '98 feature in Vibe Magazine written by Tate.
"I am at a loss…[Greg] was there for so many moments in my life. He called my poems “a black scream.” He was one of the FEW black journalists who understood & wrote about techno & detroit & its roots in black culture. He supported and loved Black Women Rock and all women who rocked hard. He put us in front, on stage, in articles.
He was absolutely one of the smartest men I’d ever known. A scholar, an educator, a bad ass musician. My brother. Our brother. My heart breaks for my artist family."
