If passion is what you want, then passion is what you’ll get with Obasi Jackson. Obasi is the biological older brother to the late Brooklyn legend, Pop Smoke. Like his brother Pop Smoke, this Brooklyn born artist ignites the stage with his energy in every performance, and is also a super creative that lives in the studio. Obasi, aka “Baz” is known for his versatility. Obasi produces, writes, raps, sings, records, engineers, mixes, and masters all of his own original music, and can play any role in the studio. He can even play acoustic music on guitar, as well as sing R&B styled songs, in addition to creating hard hitting hip-hop & drill inspired songs like his brother Pop.
Baz has performed with acts such as New Kingston, a Progressive Reggae group at their annual Bob Marley tribute held on Bob Marley's birthday. In March of 2019, Sprite also noticed Obasi for two of his songs: “Emotion Kid” and “Walk,” which were featured on the official Spriteway playlist. Sprite then gave Baz an opportunity to perform later that year at their "Thirst Your Way" Showcase.
This musician, producer, songwriter, and performer looks to make his presence felt worldwide and is currently most famous for recently landing on the deluxe of the newest Pop Smoke album, "Faith (Deluxe)", which was released this past year through Universal Music Groups, Republic Records. "Faith (Deluxe)" marks Pop Smokes 2nd posthumous album release to date, as well as marks the first time the two biological brothers have ever released music together commercially.
For Baz, music is spiritual. The music takes him to another place. Having a voice, and believing in his dream is what lead him to where he is. The joy of having others appreciate his artistry drives him. Understanding the power of music is important to him. Obasi hopes that he can inspire others to stay true and keep what is important to them in their hearts.
